I have not listened to much music by Josh Wilson, so I was really exited to get his new Christmas album, Noel. This album features some classic favorites as well as songs I have not heard before.
The first song on the album, The First Noel and the eighth song, Carol of the Bells are instrumental. I think these two songs give a nice variety to the album that you don't find on all Christmas albums. I also think this helps make Josh Wilson's CD stand out over other Christmas albums. Carol of the Bells is one of my favorite Christmas songs. I love the memories and images I have when I listen to this song. I think of the houses with all of the lights and decorations flashing and moving in sync with the song. I love going around town and seeing all of the Christmas lights and finding those few who go all out and have the musical houses. This song makes me think of those times!
Go Tell it on the Mountain features Mandisa. I am a fan of a lot of Mandisa's music and I enjoyed having her on this album as well. Almost Christmas is another song I like off this album. I like the arrangement of it because it is one of those songs that has that Christmas tune to it. It reminds me of one of the songs you would hear at the mall around Christmas–the type of song that makes you just feel good and gives you that “Christmas” feeling.
I enjoyed Josh's new Christmas album and I think it will do a great job getting me into the Christmas mood (come Christmastime). As I mentioned before, I had never listened to much by Josh Wilson, but after listening to his Christmas album, I am looking forward to future projects from him.
