With a host of No. 1 Christian radio singles, a GRAMMY® Award, two Billboard Music Awards, 19 Dove Awards, one platinum and four gold albums to his credit, Chris Tomlin is among the most well-known and influential artists in contemporary Christian music, referred to by Time Magazine as “most likely the most often sung artist anywhere.” Following the success of Burning Lights, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, his new album Love Ran Red features the new single “Jeus Love Me,” the radio hit “Waterfall,” and is set to release October 27.
Chris Tomlin is an icon in Christian Music. I was so, so excited when I got an advanced copy of his new album Love Ran Red. I had listened to the title track from the Passion Conference CD and I absolutely loved the entire song. It is one I think (and hope) many churches will be singing.
To say I was a little excited as I listened to this album would be an understatement. As I listened to this album, I loved the words of the songs! I was even really surprised that I fell in love with Waterfall as well. When I first heard this song, I did not really care for it, but after listening to this album over and over again, I began to like this song.
There is something about knowing the story behind a song that I really like. I find that this gives me a deeper appreciation for a song and the message in it. The following video of Chris talking about the story behind Waterfall did that for me. The music is a little louder than his voice in part of this, so you have to listen closely.
I have the deluxe edition of this CD and I am so glad I do! The deluxe part actually has some of my favorite songs on it! Let it be Jesus is acoustic as well as At the Cross. I love the acoustic versions because of the rawness and simplicity of the songs. While I enjoy the full version as well, there are times when my soul just wants the raw basics and these acoustic songs provide that for me.
I also enjoyed the remix version of Waterfall. I think this version is what helped me really like the song.
I could go on and on about how much I love this CD. I think Chris did an amazing job with this album. I found the songs to minister to me and I found myself craving to sing many of these songs to my Creator.
