After loving Amy Clipston’s last series, Hearts of the Lancaster Grand Hotel, I couldn’t wait to dive into her all new series, An Amish Heirloom Novel. The first book in the series, The Forgotten Recipe (An Amish Heirloom Novel) was different than I expected (more on that below), but very enjoyable.

When I heard the title of this new series, I immediately thought it would be about an Anish woman or young Amish girl who forgot the recipe to some special pie. I’m not exactly sure why my mind went to this, but I guess it could be a good story.

Anyway, this book, as the name implies, is about a recipe that has been forgotten until it is found by Veronica. Veronica is dealing with grief and loss, and fining this recipe from her grandmother helps her deal with her loss.

This story wouldn’t be complete without Jason, who has a secret of his own (and it isn’t his love for raspberry pie either). Jason struggles to tell Veronica his secret and could miss out on a second chance with a girl who needs it too.

I love how Amy does such a great job of pulling me into a story and this was no exception. I love being transported to Pennsylvania Amish Country and getting lost in Amy’s books. I found this story to be really interesting and I loved feeling the connection with the characters. I can’t wait to read book two in this series, The Courtship Basket.
