I've been talking about planning a focus area for the month and in January I'm going to focus on the important areas in life.
When I looked back in 2016 at how I lived my life, one of my regrets was spending time, resources, and energy on things that didn't truly matter, while neglecting what truly did.
I decided to choose this focus area for January because it feels like a good starting point for the year and my 12 focus areas for the year.
I want to lay a foundation that I can build upon in the months to follow.
When I think about the focal areas I'm leaning toward for the rest of the year, finding what truly matters to me so I know how to best invest my time, resources, and energy is very important. There is no use spending a month focusing on an area of my life that doesn't truly matter.
My plan for the month.
I plan on reading four books this month on the topic of loving life. I'm considering scheduling a little bit of reflection/implementation time so I can apply what I'm reading, but I want to get the books so I can see their layout and setup first.
My first action step
My first step is to choose the books I will read and get them ordered.
The books I'm reading
1) Living Well Spending Less: 12 Secrets of the Good Life by Ruth Soukup
2) Hands Free Life: Nine Habits for Overcoming Distraction, Living Better, and Loving More by Rachel Macy Stafford
3) Present Over Perfect by Shauna Niequist
4) Unstuffed by Ruth Soukup (I'm actually re-reading this one because it was SO good the first time)
I'll keep you updated on my progress. This is my first time trying this setup, so I'm excited to see how it goes. I'm curious to know, have you read any of these books? If you have, what did you think?
